When I\u2019m not burying myself inside the trenches of my manuscript, there are other things I like to do. Authors, in my opinion, have a bad stigma for being just introvert people who can\u2019t seem to bring out their extrovert qualities. I\u2019m quite the opposite. There are certain things I do outside my passion that help keep me grounded and ensure that I don\u2019t make my passion seem like a dead end job.
\nMMA (mix martial arts) is one of the many things I do to keep myself grounded. Not only do I get a good workout, I get to learn combat skills that I can use in case of an emergency. Not to mention my body stays fit and lean like it\u2019s supposed to.
\nI also love to eat. What I really love to do more than that is cook. Food is an easy way for me to love anyone even if I\u2019m mad at them. It\u2019s also fun for me to gather all the ingredients together, prep them, and cook them into a sublime dish. Cooking is very similar to writing in many ways to me. Which is why when I get stuck on something in my manuscript, cooking is usually a quick remedy for the writer\u2019s block.
\nWhen I actually get the chance, I love to read a book. Not read a book to enhance my writing skills, but actually read a book for my own pleasure. The books that usually grab my attention are erotica, fantasy, sci-fi, and self-help novels.
\nIf I\u2019m consumed by my daily routines, I love to sleep. I tend to have lucid dreams that help me write better or understand more about the things that are happening in my life. Not to mention my body gets its proper rest because working ten hours overnight at one of the most stressful jobs in America, USPS, can take a toll on me.
\nThose are the main things I like to do outside of writing and publishing. I just gave you a slice of what I like to do to break away from business.
