Q is for quim

Blogging from A to ZQ is for quim, and other words that I don’t tend to use in my fiction without very good reason. Sometimes the reason I don’t like them is because they are not hot, sometimes it’s because they are offensive. Quim, specifically, I don’t like because it just sounds silly to me.

Other words you’re unlikely to find in my stories include: vagina, penis, dink, wiener, cunt, mons… you probably get the idea.

Once in a while those words might sneak in, but if so you’ll know I’m using them to gain a specific effect (and chances are the effect I’m aiming for is not titillation LOL).

What words do you hate in erotic fiction? Have you ever seen them used to good effect?

P is for Johnny Depp?!

Johnny DeppI know, I know. How does P end up being for Johnny Depp. Well, let me tell you. I had this whole blog idea in my head for ‘P is for penis’ but before I started writing it I began googling to try and find some a good picture to use with it. Can we agree that penises, though useful, are not especially attractive? We can? Good.

So. I was trying to find something penis-like that was fun to look at, and failing. So then I thought ‘Well, maybe I’ll just put up a picture of a sexy man and leave it at that.’ Well, who is the sexiest man in the universe?

Yus. Johnny Depp.

*Drools*

I know I should still blog about penises but… Johnny Depp!

O is for Orgasms

Orgasms come in many, many different flavours. From the obviously fake and goofy:

(okay, that clip is actually pretty believable, but later on with the flailing and the hair tossing? I find that a wee bit fake)

To the incredibly hot:

Yum(oh my freaking gawd, right?)

but whatever the flavour I find them to be one of the most challenging parts of writing a sex story. How do you describe something that is so incredibly intense and different for everyone?

In some stories I go for the purely internal description, how it feels emotionally. In others, it’s all about the physicality. Which is your favourite to read, or do you even have a favourite?

N is for Names

Blogging from A to ZN is for Names.

I have a really tough time naming my characters and that’s just silly because, let’s face it, the name isn’t particularly important in sex stories. In fact, when people read them they want to imagine themselves in one of the roles so sometimes names can be a bad thing. Still, most of my stories require them and I’ve been writing for long enough that you’d think it would get easier, but no.

Maybe I should make a list of names to just pull from randomly as needed. Actually, I think that’s what I’ll do. Want me to include your name in it?

M is for Magpie

Cori Vidae LogoI was going to write M is for Masochist but… I like magpies. A lot. And when else am I going to have a chance to write about them on a BDSM blog? Um. Not often, I don’t expect LOL

I say I like magpies a lot but really I’m a fan of all corvidae — hence my pen name.

Corvids are so intelligent, beautiful and (at least where I’m from) misunderstood. People don’t like them, largely because of how clever they are. When you’re smart and have lots of time on your hands you can cause plenty of trouble. 🙂

Pica pica is the species of magpie that lives around here and that is why that’s what I asked my friend to draw for my logo. A gorgeous, glorious magpie.
