G is for GGG

Blogging from A to ZI had no idea what to choose for the letter G. Gender? Glass (as in writing under glass)? G-spot? LOL In the end I’ve decided to go with something that, I think, is relevant to everyone who is sexually active.

GGG

GGG is an acronym that was coined by Dan Savage and it stands for good, giving and game.

The idea is that every person should strive to be good in bed, giving to their partner(s) (meaning unselfish) and game to try new things. I think Dan and his followers actually define game as being game ‘for anything within reason’ and that works too, but for some people just trying something new can be a challenge.

One of the core aspects of BDSM, in my opinion, is testing and finding your limits and that is not an easy thing. It requires baby steps, so game to try new things might be the first step toward being game for anything within reason, don’t you think? 🙂

F is for Fucking

Blogging from A to ZI am not averse to swearing. Or talking dirty. Or using words in my fiction that would not be appropriate for general conversation. I don’t tend to write romantic stories where the characters make love, it’s all about hardcore fucking in my fiction.

*shrugs*

It’s what works for me. It also tends to be what works for my readers. So I couldn’t make F stand for anything else really, now could I? 😉

E is for an Explanation

Blogging from A to ZOriginally I planned to make E be about ‘Erotica vs. Porn’ but someone commented and asked what BDSM stood for and I thought “Oh. Bad, bad Cori. You should never assume people just know these things.” so I wanted to explain that instead (I’ll fit the erotica vs porn thing in later).

Firstly, what does BDSM stand for. Good question and, like most things, there is more than one answer 🙂 Most of the people I know say BDSM stands for bondage, domination, sadism and masochism but there are other answers too. Sometimes the d can stand for discipline, and the s and m bits can also be slave and master.

I was curious to see how Wikipedia defined BDSM and they said, in part:

BDSM has always been used as a catch-all phrase to include a wide range of activities, forms of interpersonal relationships, and distinct subcultures. With an ethos of “your kink is OK!”

I am mostly including their definition because of the last bit. Your kink is OK. As long as it is safe, sane and consensual*, your kink is okay. I’m not trying to be prescriptive here at Cori Vidae and I understand that everything is highly individualized, especially when it comes to what gets you hot.

*Or risk-aware consensual kink but I tend to find that SSC is an easier concept for people new to kink to grasp.

D is for Dominant

Blogging from A to ZSo… given that I mostly write kinky stories and dominance and submission (D/s, Ds or D&s) is a common recurring theme in them, I kinda had to make D be for Dominance or Dominant. I went with the latter because, well, it’s simpler 🙂

I suspect that most of the people who are reading this already know what a Dominant is, but for anyone who has just stumbled across this website randomly allow me to explain. In a D/s relationship one person is in control of another. The person in control is called the dominant and the person surrendering that control is the submissive. Dominants can be called many, many things:

Dom / Domme
Dominatrix
Dominant
Master / Mistress
Sir / Ma’am
Daddy
Top

To some people these titles all mean different things, to some they are all the same. The point as far as this blog entry is concerned, is that they are the person in charge.

*D/s relationships do not always involve sex, but for the sake of all my writing on this website we’ll assume that the ones I’m talking about do LOL
